A Night in Old San Antonio : A History in Photographs
Description:
As part of the once bustling neighborhood of Cattleman's Square, this Mission Revival style building was designed and built by architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1909. It opened as the International & Great Northern Hotel to serve guests from the nearby railroad station.

The building experienced a three decade period of vacancy following the area's decline, as well as a fire. It was not until 2001 that the non—profit organization AVANCE renovated the Heimann Building for use as its headquarters. The Society assisted the project by contributing a grant of $100,000 toward the initial renovation and another $25,000 grant in 2004. The project won a National Trust Preservation Award in 2005.
