Description:
This Guadalupe Street property, known as the Bergara—LeComte House, is a significant as an example of adobe construction typical of the "Laredito" neighborhood, dating back to the 1800's on San Antonio's Westside. LeComte de Watine purchased the land from the heirs of Anselmo Bergara in 1850. This house is noted for its use of local materials, possibly clay made from San Pedro Creek.
Prior to joint Society and City efforts to stabilize the house in 2005 and 2006, it was missing several portions of the walls and being held up by a wood frame. The Society contributed $10,480 towards having the walls rebuilt by a trained stone mason familiar with adobe construction.
