We continue to follow the request for new construction at 205 Ostrom in the River Road Historic District.  Our recommendation is that the central portion of the original house be incorporated into the new design.

The HDRC, which has three new commissioners, denied the owner’s request to demolish the original house by a very slim margin on January 16, 2019.

The case returned three weeks later.  After a lengthy discussion, the commissioners again denied the demolition request, this time with a unanimous decision.  The applicant said he would appeal to the Board of Adjustment, so there may still be more to come.
