Since 1960, the Conservation Society Foundation’s Heritage Education Tours have been a San Antonio tradition. In 2019, approximately 2,200 fourth-grade students from twenty-five schools received free guided tours of some of our city’s most significant historic sites.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Conservation Society Foundation initiated a new approach to this Texas history program by creating virtual tours. Our first three videos covered Mission Concepcion (1755), Mission San Jose (1720), and the Steves Homestead (1876).
For 2022, we’ve added new videos exploring Mission San Antonio de Valero (1718), better known as the Alamo, and the River Walk, first envisioned by creator Robert Hugman as the “Shops of Aragon and Romula.” Visit our Heritage Education page to watch all five videos.
