San Antonio Conservation Society Announcement
May 15, 2018
Each year, we host a seminar and reception in honor of Historic Preservation Month. This year’s theme features the “Works Project Administration in San Antonio.” Our seminar will be held on Saturday, May 19th at Stinson Municipal Airport, whose terminal building was built by the WPA in 1936. The program runs from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Join us for this fun and informative event!
American Venice author Lewis F. Fisher will discuss “Hugman’s River Walk: A WPA Transformation Downtown,” while Susan Toomey Frost, the author of Colors on Clay, will talk about “Ethel Wilson Harris and WPA tile in San Antonio.” Former San Antonio Conservation Society President Nancy Avellar will present “WPA Projects in San Antonio.” In addition to seminar presentations by our experts, enjoy live entertainment followed by a reception.
