The Conservation Society opposed a zoning change that would allow for more dense development over this area, which lies within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. Increasing the density of residential construction decreases the amount of open ground through which water can penetrate to reach the underground aquifer that provides our city’s water. We stood with the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance and many other groups and individuals concerned with protecting our natural water supply. Unfortunately, the council did not respond to citizens’ concerns and approved the zoning change for the Mustang Oaks development.
